Abstract

All universities are different, and international differences mean that practices from one institution are not transferable to another. However, sound principles (such as respecting the staff and student voices in university decision-making) can be translated from one context to another. This presentation offered some ideas from UK experience on structures for good governance, based on these transferable principles, and provided examples of what those ideas look like in practice at a small Scottish institution, Queen Margaret University.
