    Abstract
    The article offers information on the professional lives of journalists Elena Poniatowska and Anna Politkovskaya. It reports on the field of investigative journalism. It discusses the childhood, education and career of the two journalists. Investigative reportage work of Poniatowska, also a novelist and a short story writer, reflects her commitment to interpreting contemporary society. Politkovskaya focused her reportage on state orphanages, socially disadvantaged and old people.
