(2017) How do Young Adults Perceive Property Investments in Edinburgh? An Identification and Analysis of the Factors that Affect Young Adults' Perceptions towards the Housing Market.
The project aims to identify young peoples' perceptions towards housing investments in Edinburgh. The study employs a broadly known methodological framework of consumer behaviour which commences with the identification and therefore the analysis of the key factors likely to influence young peoples' perceptions of the current property market. The identification of those perceptions is therefore achieved using a survey, purposely developed upon the model selected within the theoretical framework, as well as in accordance to the social, economic, cultural and political factors identified within a great body of statistical data and publications. A range of circumstances such as financial crisis of 2007 followed by the recession in 2008, uneven wealth distribution, mortgage crisis and shortage of housing supply, created immense uncertainties for some young people to whether they will get on the property ladder anytime soon. To fully comprehend the depth of those perceptions, the researcher argues that a broader qualitative study is required.
