Abstract
This dissertation was inspired by my own personal enthusiastic interest over the Independence Referendum, a very exciting period in Scottish art and politics. The study is by way of a post mortem on how National Collective conducted itself during this period. Did National Collective only preach to the young and converted? The author wanted to find out just how successful they were in inspiring and galvanising the arts community behind the Yes campaign. The research for this study involved interviews, surveys and documentary analysis using means of social media. This study gathered the opinions of experts and non-professionals in the arts industry to see if there are common themes.
