    Abstract
This study aims to explore the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games ability to advance cultural impacts through technology. Previous research has been conducted on political, economical, socio-cultural and environmental impacts of mega events. However, there seems to be a gap in the literature since limited data is available on technological impacts. Therefore, since technology is one of the fastest growing industries, this study researched the impacts of technology on people at mega events, as it found necessary to explore this impact in order to analyse the overall mega events impacts. This study followed a qualitative approach, where the researcher conducted face-to-face interviews. This method was chosen on purpose to analyse participant's perceptions. Furthermore, this dissertation found that it agrees with previous researchers in regards to mega events being organised on behalf of the economy. Yet, new findings of this study discovered that addressing cultural impacts can lead towards success, positive city image and long term economic advantage. This research also found that technology has a big influence on people in general. And events such as Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games encourage people to use technology, this therefore influences their spending and forms the society it is today.
