    Abstract
This study aims to give the reader an overall view of the effects of major and mega events on developing countries in comparison to developed countries. It will employ the use of an online survey and a media content analysis in order to obtain these results, which will be presented with clarity throughout the paper. Within this, the researcher also aims to research and discuss the influence that the media has on influencing the community and their perspectives of countries hosting major and mega events. The research paper includes a brief introduction to the subject, a literature review of pertinent existing literature, a description of the methods used to obtain the data, then goes on to analyse and present the findings, and follows with a discussion of the relevant findings, finishing with a conclusion and recommendations for future research as well as recommendations for the industry/policy.
