TARA THE TORTOISE
The aim of my research asks what is my client feeling? This question is asked in the context of working in an inpatient actuate psychiatric ward where environmental pressures impact the needs of the client. An examination of understanding what my client was feeling through art psychotherapy informs what can help to alleviate her distress. The research findings were that in the context of trauma, my client was facing concerns of self-identity or lack there-of, lack of holding and an internalized self-critical attitude that impacted her wellness. Something that needs further examination is the feeling of loss she was faced with after her experience of trauma. Due to the pressure of working in the present within the ward setting, a well-rounded treatment plan could not be enforced that support the grieving process the client needed to go through. A suggestion of a more suitable therapeutic environment is mentioned at the end.
